Boundary works on Spratton Recreation Field
After much anticipation, works to repair the boundary between the recreation field and Roly Banks will take place in early September. This addresses a long-standing Parish Council obligation to properly fence the boundary line. The work will see the removal of the overgrown hawthorn and ivy and the reinstatement of suitable low-maintenance fencing along the original boundary line. The Parish Council and Rec Committee are also exploring the planting and ongoing maintenance of a native species mixed hedgerow to run alongside the new fencing.
These works should deliver improvements to that part of the recreation field, including:
- Reducing litter, antisocial behaviour and trespassing on private land in Roly Banks
- Tidying up the scrub land on the recreation field side of the boundary
- Helping reduce littering along the boundary line
- Creating future opportunities for the improved use of the cleared ground alongside the fence
The Parish Council, Rec Committee and others have worked together to agree these long-overdue works. Temporary signage will be added to show how villagers can access the recreation field from Roly Banks through other existing routes. The Parish Council and Rec Committee will keep the village updated on any plans to further improve the space next to the fence.
