Memorial Safety Notices Following Inspections

Following routine safety inspections carried out by the Parish Council’s appointed contractor, temporary notices may be attached to some memorials within the cemetery.

These notices indicate that the memorial has been identified as requiring attention, such as maintenance, repair or further assessment, in order to ensure public safety. The Parish Council has a duty of care to take reasonable steps to manage any potential risks within the cemetery.

The presence of a notice does not mean that a memorial will be removed. It is intended to alert the memorial owner or family that action may be required. Where contact details are held, the Parish Council will seek to contact the memorial owner directly.

The Parish Council recognises the personal and emotional significance of memorials and aims to deal with these matters sensitively and respectfully. If you have any queries about a notice, please contact the Parish Clerk for further information.
